Skeikampen -Innlandet, Norway.

Childrens area at Skeikampen in the morning

Skeikampen alpinecenter is the perfect place for families that want to enjoy the winter in a safe enviroment with lots of space and beautiful nature scenery.

Skeikampen have 21 slopes and 11 lifts ranging from childrens slope to lift with eight seats to black slopes.

At Skeikampen there are hotels, skirental, café, restaurants and afterski. The best experience you can get at Skeikampen is to ski alpine, telemark, snowboard or cross-country with one of Skeikampen Academy Skischool‘s proffesional instructors to guide you or your kids; no matter of level: Newbeginner, intermediate – when you have been skiing before or considering yourself as an expert.

How to get there:

The easiest way is to drive, but you can also take the train and bus that stops at the skicenter.

By driving:

1.Road E6 North to the small city “Lillehammer”. Drive pass Lillehammer and drive off to Gausdal. (255) Follow the road through “Segalstad Bru” to “Svingvoll”

2.Take off the road at “Svingvoll” – left at “Skeisvegen”

3.Follow the road about 10K to reach Skeikampen and follow the directions.

By train and bus from Oslo or Trondheim:

  1. Train from “Oslo” (Capital) or “Gardermoen” (Airport OSL) or Trondheim (In the north) to “Lillehammer”
  2. Bus 511 to “Skeikampen alpinecenter” on weekends or Bus to “Segalstad bru” connects to bus 511 to “Skeikampen alpinecenter” at weekdays.

Temperatures and weather:

At Innlandet the weather conditions during a winterseason can start at -1,-2+ C and freeze below -19 C.

For you to get the best experiences in the cold; dress accordingly to the weather!

I will publish the 8 norwegian: “Fjellvettregler” ( means: “To-have-sense with-the-enviroment-at-mountain-recommendments“:)

  1. Plan yout trip and tell someone where you are going
  2. Adapt your trip after your own abilities and condition
  3. Consider weather and Warnings of Avalanches
  4. Be prepared for storm and freezing tempratures even at shorter trips.
  5. Plan safe choices of roads – Be able to recognise the terrain with potential avalanches and unsecure iceroads.
  6. Use map(s) and compass. Know you location.’
  7. Turn and go back if neccessary. Better safe than sorry!
  8. Save your stamina, and seek shelter if necessary.

The image below are of my two collagues at the top of Skeikampen on a foggy day and illustrates how dense the fog can be.

We rode down the slope after that being all three a bit dizzy. I guess our recommandation is to go cross country skiing at short local trips that goes in circle (“Rundturer”) or stay at a cozy café at days like these. There are plenty of inspiration at Youtube or starting chats with friendly people/locals to plan your next trips at Skeikampen.
