I am only a ski instructor – how do I stay active and on budget?

How do I stay alive on a small budget and physically active for the next winter season in Norway.

Working as a skiinstructor today is a relatively decent paid job in Norway for the fact that employer also cover insurances, taxes and keeping up with important and strict safety considerations of Norwegian law of work and environmental regulations.
This means as long there are snow, guests who wants to go skiing in the season, and skiresorts with skischools, or organisations with skicourses; I may get a job for 3-6 months.

#Solutions to problem 1:

So what do I live off as a ski instructor for the rest of the year?

Work!
Since I left the desk in 2020, I’ve been working from the spring to autumn in a shop of fashion clothing, I did b2b marketing as a saleswoman, I worked in hotels as a housekeeper and I worked with delivery of papers and packages in order to pay housing rent and all the other expenses that in order to survive.

One year I had 2 jobs (housekeeping and delivery) in order to save up for the autumn/winter. Logically I did not have very much time to stay active, still my performance on running did not decrease. TBH. It was isolated feeling of hardship that spring and summer with no time to rest and I will not recommend that.
Another year I worked in a Fashion clothes store which gave me many hours because of capacities and I was responsible for opening and closing the store among other tasks.

I’ve just started a new work path as a career ski instructor and willing to put the work that is necessary to get relevant work the whole year.

#Solutions to problem 2:

How to stay physical active the rest of the year.

In the back of my mind that I am a human with limitations and I’m my adult body have allready started physical decomposition towards death.

From my experience of consistent training that have been organised, there are challenges to stay in one place or active group over time. Some of my reasons has been because of living at different locations, personal interests, age, time, social and economy.

Embrace different kind of sports or activities!

The advances of variation in training are crucial for a lot of physical advancements, among health and how long the body will stay healthy. I am an adult, and I have been sporty and active since I was 15 years old:

• I actively played basketball in a team for 3 years.
• I was included socially into a breakdance crew and was welcome to train where they rehearsed/trained.
• I actively and consistent trained martial arts in different organisations for 5 years.
• In my adult-work-desk life I started running forth and back from work (“transport-running”)and I have done variations of running (intervalls, long distance, short runs, hill, trail – whatever place there is possible to run at 🙂 as an individual or in groups I found on the internet since then.

#Solution to problem 3:

When and how to take a break/vacation/chill from personal career goals 🙂

There’s nothing to learn here!

You can likely use me as the example for failing to take a decent break! The last years since 2018 I’ve been failing of take enough breaks in between, prospering socially and “naturally”, exploring the right opportunities or direction. I do have a self-conscious about NOT being able to pause/break in a thorough way, and stressed decisions made more financial expenses for me peersonally in the long run.
